Returning Fellow Application Process

We’re excited you’re interested in returning for a second term with CivicSpark! The Fellow application opens on March 11th available here and sent as a link via email.

If you’d like to apply, please consider whether returning is the right choice for you. If you are interested in applying only until you find another position before or during the service year, for example, we ask that you leave the slot available for an interested incoming Fellow who can benefit from this experience.

See below for the application process depending on whether you’re interested in returning to your same site, a different site, or considered for both.

Same Site Application Process

If you are interested in returning to your same site, please discuss the possibility of returning with your site supervisor as soon as possible, as the ability to serve at the same site for a second year is contingent on:

  • the reapplication and approval of that project

  • your project partner’s interest and ability to keep you on

To apply, you must submit an abbreviated application using the link above. Indicate on the application that you are interested in returning to your same site. CivicSpark and the host site will review your application. Final determination of same site, second term approval will be contingent upon the host site extending their fellow a formal offer upon application review.

*Select this option if you are only interested in returning to your same site. if you are open to the possibility of being considered by a different site or would like to have that option as a back up in the event your current site ultimately does not request your return, then please select the same and different option. Keep in mind that a full application and interview is required to be considered for placement at a new host site.

*CivicSpark Fellows returning for a second term with their same site will receive $5,000 in addition to their living allowance totaling $39,000 before taxes.

Different Site and Both Different/Same Site Application Process

If you are interested in applying for a different host site or being consider by your current host site and different host sites, then you will complete a full application and interview with a CivicSpark team member. Upon receipt of your application and completion of the program interview, we will add your candidate profile to the pool of candidates routed to partners for consideration. While we assume returning Fellows will be highly desirable candidates, it is ultimately up to partners who they interview and make an offer to. 

Timeline

The Fellow application will open to current Fellows only on March 11th. Please apply by April 5th, especially if you are interested in returning to your current host site. After that date, your host site will be available to any new candidates applying for the 24-25 service year when applications open to the public on April 9th.
